Hi Friends
and Family
As we get older
we have reached that philosophical stage where we are looking around going “what
are we doing with our lives and are we happy doing it” so after a lot of thought
and discussion we've decided to take some time to smell the
proverbial roses. After 34 and 32 years of teaching we have decided to take
2013 off on long service leave and test the waters, do a bit of
travelling and see how the other half live.
We have lots
of friends around the same age who have great lives full of new and
exciting adventures, hobbies and travel and we have been thinking we
might appreciate the same changes or at least check it out and see if it suits us. Whilst we
have both loved teaching (as much as Ross complains he really does)
its time for something new, a bit of us time and a few adventures.
After making
the decision to both see a bit of Australia and do some OS travel in
2013. We trialled a Maui camper van in July 2012 and headed of to
Corindi and to return to the old stamping ground of the Blue Dolphin
Caravan Park in Yamba where we used to go with the kids when they
were younger. We had a great time and and made the big decision to
buy one for our selves.
So ......... we have
just taken delivery of a large camper van or small motor home
(whichever way you look at it) from Ballina camper vans. The
Melaleuca model for those who want to look it up on the website and we
are now stocking it up to head out.
A small fly
in the ointment has been the fact that Toni fell over at school with
only 5 days to go in 2012 and fractured her patella – 6 weeks of
total immobilisation in a brace (over the heat of Xmas and new year)
and after 2 weeks of physiotherapy, we are ready to try and fly the
nest even if I have to still do heaps of exercise on the knee while
we travel.
We will be
heading off soon to have a small adventure, check out the van
and it's peculiarities and make sure the knee is up to the task of
travelling further.
We will
try to keep you up to speed on all of the adventures we find along
the way.
