Well we are finally here, great house, warm and cosy. The temperature has been around 10 to 12 and it's getting down to 3 at night. Did our washing and explored the house; great backyard, very English garden with lots of fat pigeons.
Headed into Coventry on the "park and ride" - you drive to a park and leave the car and catch a bus into the city. Runs every 15 minutes and if you are going to be in the city for more than an hour, cheaper too.
Checked out the Cathedral - the most bombed town in Great Britain. Very atmospheric on a cold cloudy day. The guild hall was open so we headed in and saw the beautiful tapestries and stained glass, even a room where Mary Queen of Scott's lived for a while; cold, small and low doors and windows, spiral stairs and looks more like a prison than a guest room.
We had a coffee in Lady Godiva's crypt (terrible coffee and the only poor service we've come across in our whole stay) and wandered around to organise phones and the iPad. Saw Lady Godiva's statue on the way. Coventry is a university and manufacturing town, a funny mix of old and new, tradition and technology.
Back to the "park and ride" through the gardens and home for a nap. Ross is suffering with jet lag and still thinks he is flying, and no it's not his medications. Back is very good and a return to relative normality.
